You likely use your phone or a computer hundreds of times each day to read messages from friends, search for a new restaurant, work on school assignments, play games, shop for clothes, and check your bank balance. But attackers are always watching for any openings to steal your information or infect your devices. They often trick us into doing things that make it easy for them to steal our data, identities, and more. To stay secure online, you should understand how to defend yourself from these attacks.

In this module, you examine the types of attacks that occur today and how you can protect your computers and other devices and your personal information. You will also explore personal health risks that come from using a computer or smartphone.

Assignment Types/Grading Criteria

Computer Concepts Video Training: A series of short videos focusing on the module topic. Following the video is one related question and multiple answer attempts are allowed. Auto graded for 15 points for viewing videos and completing questions.

Discussion: See and interact with each other's work using related topics, current events and more. . Graded with a 10- or 20-point rubric.

Quizzes: Assess the knowledge gained from the readings and required resources. Auto grade – Points vary by assignment.

Projects: Practice using the skills you are learning. Instructor graded or auto graded – Points vary by assignment.
