Late Work Policy and Other Course Policies

  • Late Assignments: No late work will be accepted!
  • Homework, Quizzes and Exams: The instructor will not accept any late work or exams – no exceptions!  Homework and tutorials must be submitted to the appropriate link in the course lessons by the time listed of the due dates and quizzes and exams must be taken by the close of the business day on the due date of the exam, unless other arrangements were made in advance.
  • Discussion forums: The instructor will grade initial posts and responses only if the participant posts them by the due dates given with each. Participants are welcome to continue discussion beyond the due dates.  But the instructor will not include those posts as part of the grade.
  • Due Dates and Time: Assignment due dates are listed in the assignment.  Due date times are all at 11:55 pm on Pacific Time, unless otherwise stated.
  • Self-Assessed Assignments: Participants are to complete these assignments by 11:55 pm Pacific Time (unless otherwise specified) on the due dates given, so plan your work such that you leave yourself enough time to get your work completed and reviewed. Solutions are available as soon as the assignment is opened for the review and self-assessment.
  • Apply Your Skills Assignments: Participants are to submit these assignments to the appropriate headings in Canvas by the times listed (Pacific Time) on the due dates given, so plan your work such that you leave yourself enough time to submit your work. Participants are welcome to work ahead, but the assignment will not be graded before the due date.  The instructor will submit your grade for these assignments within five days of the due date, earlier when possible.
  • Academic Honesty: Plagiarism is not acceptable.  You must do you own work on all the non-self assessed graded assignments.  Teamwork is encouraged for the homework assignments (self-assessed assignments), but even then these are not to be a passive copying of another’s work or other resources.  As for the discussion forums, you must cite phrases, sentences, and ideas used from published sources, including your textbook, in whatever style you are most comfortable (MLA or APA).  This instructor does not tolerate any academic dishonesty; if any is discovered, the student may be reported to administration, the assignment will be given a zero, and the student could be suspended from the class, all at the instructor’s discretion.
  • Discussion Board Participation:
    • Students are expected to actively participate in the discussion board each week. Students are required to post an initial response to the discussion board prompt(s) no later than Thursday by 11:55 pm of the current week’s discussion board (unless otherwise stated). Then each student must respond to the initial postings of at least one/two classmate(s) – see each individual forum for the exact amount.
    • If a student fails to participate appropriately, the following actions may be taken:
      1. The student will be dropped from the course,
        OR
      2. If the date for dropping a course without penalty has passed, the student will receive a failing grade, unless prior arrangements have been made between the instructor and student.
    • A student who seeks an exception to this policy must do so in advance of the absence and/or provide documentation of the emergency that caused it, as determined by the instructor.
