About Me:

Hello and Welcome to Forensic DNA Biology. My name is Eleazar Gutierrez. My primary loves include Science and Math. My degree is in Biochemistry and Biophysics. Biochemists and Molecular Biologists are interested in finding out how life works. This requires knowledge from various disciplines. Genetics, Physics, Organic Chemistry, and Biochemistry-the list goes on.

I hope to instill my enthusiasm for the Life Sciences. That at the end or this term you decide that taking this course not only open doors and provided you relevant knowledge, but that it also enriched your life.

This is a lab-centered course that doubles as a biotechnology course for the Technical Core of the Laboratory Technician program. It will introduce many aspects of a biotechnology such as microbiological concepts, CRIPR, PCR, and electrophoresis.

Klamath Community College Library

Here are some examples of what we have to offer here at the library for you! We have:

Over 7000 materials for checkout in the KCC Library space, including books, DVDs, magazines, drawing tablets, VR headsets, etc. Anyone who is a student, staff, and/or faculty can check out materials! If we can’t find it here, we can check the Sage Library System for the material, which provides access to over 1.3 million materials!
Database access and assistance! If you log into MyKCC and click on the LRC tab, you should be able to access our databases from there! If you need assistance, please contact me and I can work with you in person or via Zoom.
If you forgot to bring your textbook to campus or are waiting for it to arrive, we have the textbooks in our reserves! Please note, you can only check them out for a couple hours at a time in the Library.
The Library Computer Lab has access to different software, including Unity, AutoCAD, and Adobe. There are also computers with cameras and we lend out headsets, just in case you need to record for a class or participate in a Zoom meeting! The Library Computer Lab is located in Founders Hall (Building 9), in Room 9213.
I offer research appointments and information literacy classes, so if you need help finding resources and developing topics, let me know! Here are examples of areas we can cover in person or via Zoom:

how to develop your research question,
how to use the library databases and/or the physical library collection,
how to find and use accessibility options provided on the library databases,
understand the different types of resources you may encounter (i.e. popular sources like National Geographic and scholarly sources like the scholarly books and journals in our databases),
how to fact-check and evaluate resources,
and how to properly cite resources.

We have an amazing hub of KCC Resources, known as a KCC Resources LibGuide. In this Library Guide, different KCC Resources are listed for easier accessibility so that you can be successful here at KCC! Here are a few other examples of LibGuides currently available here at KCC:

Research Foundational Skills – A crash course on information literacy, utilizing our library databases, and other helpful resources for a research project.

Credit for Prior Learning – Learn all the steps you will need to take in order to receive credit for prior learning.

Opposing Viewpoints and Controversial Topics – Learn about reliable sources for opposing viewpoints and where to go for controversial topics.

We host events at the KCC Library! We will be having our KCC Wellness Day on April 10 from 10-12, and it will include games, pizza, and giveaway items. We are also having National Library Week events on April 24-28, including an Ice Cream Social, Arts & Crafts, Fun in 3D!, Poetry Games, Arbor Day, and more. We are also hosting Star Wars Day on May 4^th, so feel free to come in your best costume and join in for games, food, and more!
