  Introduction/Purpose

"If you don't have the time to do it right, when will you have the time to do it over?" - John Wooden

Welcome to Week 2!  Last week we covered topics to help you get started for the term and this week, we will begin Unit 1 and talk about the importance of communication, good time management, and goal setting as a student. Knowing how to access your student email is vital to your success at KCC.  Here you can communicate with anyone on campus and your email will be where you will receive important communication from departments that provide valuable resources for all students.  This is different from your Canvas Inbox messaging system.  The only messages you can get in your Canvas Inbox are between you and your current instructors.  You won't receive messages from your advisor, Student Life, Financial Aid, or other KCC departments in Canvas - only in your email.  Please remember to check your email daily!

The quote above is one of my favorites when it comes to time management. If you are going to take the time out of your day to accomplish tasks (homework, chores, etc.) then you want to be sure to do it well the first time because you don't have time to do it over again!  As a college student you are very busy and how you manage your time will greatly determine your success (or lack of!).  You will learn several great strategies this week on how to create a schedule, how to set goals, and how to manage your time so that you can get everything you need to do, completed!

There are several assignments this week so plan your week accordingly. Homework may feel overwhelming but just get started on the first one and keep going.  Be sure to keep an eye on when assignments are due and take a look at the task to see how long it might take you to complete the work.  A lot of the assignments in CGS have to do with you and for you to reflect on yourself so the work isn't difficult, but does take time to complete.  Starting and completing assignments early is a great strategy for good time management and it will help with you manage stress too!
